Below Grade Level Students
1. Where's That Sound?- Students will match initial and final phonemes to graphemes. Students will focus on identifying one target letter as being either the initial or final sound of a picture name. The students will sort the pictures either under the initial sound train card or the final sound train card. Click here for the directions and train cards.
English Language Learners
1. Letter Bag- Students will practice identifying objects with and without a target final phoneme. Put target final sound objects in a bag. Have students draw an item from the bag and decide if it has the target final sound or not and mark accordingly on their student sheet. Click here for the directions and student sheet.
Students with Autism
1. Phonics Monster Machine- Students will practice reading CVC words by making monsters. Download the heads, bodies, and tails cards and create monsters for your students to read!
Students with Dyslexia
1. Medial Phoneme Spin- Students will match medial phonemes to graphemes. Have students spin the vowel spinner, name the letter and its sound, and select a picture card that has the same medial sound. Click here for the directions, medial phoneme pictures and vowel spinner board.
Gifted Students
1. Letter-Sound Match- Students will match initial, final, and medial phonemes to graphemes. Have students cut out master pictures, say picture name and segment phonemes in the name. The student will look for the letters on the student sheet that correspond to two of the sounds and glue the picture in the fourth column and write the letter for the missing sound.
